At A Glance
- £6million investment to reduce the risk of flooding in Wellhouse
- Planning application submitted to Glasgow City Council
- Delivered by Caledonia Water Alliance
Flood prevention
This proposed investment would involve construction of a large SUDs pond
What We Are Doing
This proposed investment would involve construction of a large Sustainable Urban Drainage systems (SUDs) pond on the land between Newhills Road and Balado Road to store flood water during storm events.
SUDs help retain surface water runoff and help protect water quality and reduce potential for flood risk.
Why We Are Doing It
A number of properties in the area have previously been affected by sewer flooding.
The work we are delivering here will increase the capacity of the local waste water network and provide extra storage during heavy rainfall.
This improvement project will help reduce the risk of flooding in the area.
Latest update - November 2025
A planning application has been submitted to Glasgow City Council in support of this investment.
Full details of the planning application will be posted at Glasgow City Council’s website.
Further updates will be posted regarding these works following the outcome of the planning application.
