David Dale Avenue Stewarton Flood Alleviation
Project Overview
We are delivering a project to alleviate internal and external sewer flooding in and around David Dale Avenue in Stewarton, East Ayrshire.
The capacity of the local sewer network is being increased to make it less prone to overflowing.
At a Glance
- £2.2million investment
- Work carried out in two phases
- Delivered by George Leslie

Increased Capacity
Most of the work is being carried out in the grounds of Lainshaw Primary School where larger sewer pipes are being laid
What We Are Doing
Work on the first phase began in July 2022 and was completed a year later. Designed to alleviate the majority of internal and external flooding, a new upgraded sewer was installed along David Dale Avenue and through an area of mature woodland.
Phase two will see an upgraded sewer pipe installed in the grounds of Lainshaw Primary School.
We are using directional drilling along with the traditional open cut method to minimise disruption to the local community. It involves sinking two small shafts into the ground in the playground area.

Why We Are Doing It
Properties along David Dale Avenue in Stewarton have been prone to internal and external sewer flooding during periods of heavy rain. There has also been a significant increase in the local population and new properties being built.

Work on the latest phase began in July 2025
Update August 2025
To allow heavy machinery to access the site, parking has been suspended along a section of Morton Road since the work began in July due to the narrowness of the road.
We are grateful for the patience and cooperation of the community.
